Wood Carving Word SearchWant some money? Got a little time? There are at least 33 woodcarving-related words and/or phrases hidden in the word search puzzle. Solve the puzzle and you could win $15 - $20. The words can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal in any of the eight directions. A word counts only once even if it appears more. Do not count a word and its plural as two words; e.g., "wood" and "woods" are the same. Hint: "wood" by itself is not one of the words to find. Words in phases cannot be counted as separate words; e.g., the phrase "wood blank" counts as one answer, not two. Words/phrases not on the official list will not be counted. Find the hidden words, make a list of the words, then email your list to webmaster @carvers.mytalweb.com , or bring your entry to a meeting. All entries are due at the November business meeting. The winner will be announced in December. The winner will be determined by the entry with the most correct words. In case of a tie, a random drawing from those entries will determine the winner. One of the words or phrases earns a bonus. If more than one entry contains the bonus word/phrase, a random drawing will determine the winner. Hint: the bonus is an uncommon name for something we commonly use. No, it's not burin or spitsticker. Most importantly, have fun! Good hunting! Note: Not responsible for misspellings or erroneous words! Big Bend Folklife DaysThe Tallahassee Museum of History and Natural Science will not be doing the weekend event this November. They will be doing a farm day-type program led by museum educators. They are asking if some wood carvers would sit at a table near the Discovery Center and demonstrate carving for the students and teachers to visit before or after their program. The times would be from 9:30 a.m. to about 1:00 p.m., depending on registration, on November 15. 16, 17 (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.) We will discuss this at the September 11 business meeting. In Memoriam

Puzzle by Craig KittendorfB C H I S E L U T B L T U P L A O T Needed -- Door PrizesThe door prizes awarded at the conclusion of the business meeting each month are supplied by none other than our members. And we are in need of door prizes. If each member contributed one item, we would have our supply for a year. Anything to do with wood carving works and the items do not have to be expensive. Use the Michael's 40% off coupon and get some brushes, or paint, or an archival ink pen, or a something else interesting. WalMart carries Delta Ceramcoat paints at good prices. Get a $5 gift card from either of these places. Buy a cutout and donate it to door prizes. Bring material for bases. Get imaginative! But bring a door prize.
