Weekend WorkshopsFebruary 8-9-10. Santa Face Relief Carving. On Friday night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., our guest instructor, Larry Nowell, will hold a gouge sharpening workshop. This is open to all club members at no cost. The class members will be able to sharpen their tools and be ready to work on the face on Saturday morning. The Saturday and Sunday workshop, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., is limited to those who sign up and pay for the workshop. All workshop sessions will be held at the Light N UP Art Co-Op and Studios classroom, 208 NW 1st St., Havana. April 4-5-6. Sign Carving. Bill and Isa Hastings of Black River, Michigan are our guest instructors for this workshop. They will provide boards and patterns. Students must have their own sharp tools (standard medium size gouge preferred). A 1/4" or 3/16" #11 veiner will do most of the lettering. A board holder is desirable. The final protective coat on the sign will be done by the student at home. We will check with workshop participants in February to see if we need to put a group order together for the tools and make board holders. If you want to woodburn a decoration, you need to bring your own woodbumer and pattern to the workshop. This workshop will take place at the Light N UP Art Co-Op and Studios classroom, 208 NW 1st St., Havana. We will meet on Friday night from 6:30 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Florida Woodcarvers Roundup
