New Officers

The new officers are:

President: Barbara Mann
Vice President: Robert Christian
Secretary: Adelle Grosskopf
Treasurer: Jim DeLong

We want to plan programs and workshops that are of interest to you. Please communicate your interests to any officer. Many thanks for their service as officers to Lynn Francis (last year) and Irv Jahns (the last four years). Your work is appreciated!

Program Notes

May 16: Carving of the Month with Lee Roberts. Lee has two life-size hummingbirds for us to carve. One is flying with the tail up and the other hovering with the tall down. Please sign up in advance with Lee for which and how many cutouts you want at $4 each. The hummingbirds are suitable for ornaments or can be placed in a habitat such as feeding at a flower.

Sept. 19: Carving of the Month with Robert Christian. Robert has several cowboy boot patterns of different styles and sizes for you to choose from. Sign ups will take place in advance for the exact cutouts you want.

Summer Schedule: We traditionally meet every other week during the summer which is also loaded with holidays. Keep this schedule so you will know which Monday nights we meet.

Weekend Workshops: Your officers are attempting to identify a guest instructor of general interest for next February. Please give your suggestions to Robert or any officer. Also, we usually do a Saturday workshop at Lake Ella. Do you have suggestions for what you would like to do in that workshop?

Dues Are Due!

Dues were due on April 1st. If you have not paid your dues, a membership registration form is enclosed for your use. Just fill it out, put it in an envelope with a check for the correct amount, and bring it to the next meeting or mail it to Jim DeLong, 2205 Monticello Drive, Tallahassee, FL 32303.

If you do not renew your membership, you will not appear on the membership list. As a result you will not receive future newsletters or be eligible to participate in workshops at the member pricing. Please renew today.

Florida Woodcarvers Roundup

The 2012 Roundup is scheduled for Tuesday, March 20 to Friday, March 23 in Clearwater at the City of Clearwater's Long Center, 1501 N. Belcher Rd. This is an indoor facility with lots of space and parking, a food vendor, and large restrooms. It will be managed by the city parks department. For now, put the dates on your calendar. More to follow.
