Club Needs

The door prizes come from members' contributions and we are out of prizes! Time to bring a contribution or two. Anything you would like to win as a door prize will work just fine.

If club members are interested in new T-shirts we order the shirts in the sizes needed. They usually cost about $12. Interest and color will be determined on Jan. 4th.

Program Notes

Feb. 15. Catch-up night is the time to bring your incomplete carvings to finish with the assistance of club instructors Barbara, Adelle, Robert and Lance. Bring a carving from Steve's workshop or any carving you want some consultation on.

Mar. 21. Robert will continue with the the face stick. The subject is carving the eyes. Robert will address basic eye carving and variations.

Apr. 18. Barbara will have a new ornament. She will present a few choices at the March 7th meeting for selection by the club.

Weekend Workshop

Feb. 13-14 Steve Brown will return with his collection of well over 100 possible choices of caricature rough-outs. He has finished examples of most and supplies a color pattern to follow for each one. This is Steve's 4th or 5th workshop for the club and we keep inviting him back because he is such a good teacher! This is a perfect way to learn caricature carving or to further develop your skills.

Sign-up for the workshop will begin on Jan. 4. The minimum number of students is 6 and the maximum 12. The instruction fee of $125 for the two day workshop is due to the club on Feb. 1st. Partial scholarships are available—talk with Adelle for applying. Each student purchases roughouts directly from Steve and prices range from about $10 to $70. Check out the roughouts on Steve's website: sbrownwoodcarving.com

New Cottonwood Bark

Barbara has a supply of new, nice looking Cottonwood bark from British Columbia in the smaller sizes—24" and under—in assorted widths. The bark will come with the back sanded. It will be available at the Jan. 4th meeting from a display on a back table. Cash, check or credit card will be accepted in payment, but please, no $50 or $100 bills.
