The best thing you can do to care for your brushes is to clean them frequently. Don't just wait until you're done painting to clean your brush. You want to avoid having any paint drying in the bristles. It's always a good idea to clean or rinse your brushes while you're using them, and of course, after you're done. Acrylic brushes always need to be cleaned with soap and water immediately after use. This is because acrylic paint dries super quickly and will make your brush head all crusty if it dries before you get the chance to wash it.

To keep the shape of the bristles don't scrub the brush. Be careful while you are cleaning and dry it in its original shape. Dry them in an upright state to allow the brush to retain its original form, after you have reformed it. Try not to soak the brushes for an extended time. This will deform the bristles if the brush is standing tip down in water or solvent. Water or solvent can seep into the ferrule weakening the glue holding the bristles in it and loosening the attachment to the wood or plastic handle. After cleaning and removing excess water, stand the brushes upright on their handles to dry.

These tips came from Cheap Joe's Art Stuff. This is a great place to find anything art related. Paint selections are amazing, and prices are affordable.
